  1. What are some good ideas on decorating a tween/teen room?

    December 25, 2010 by admin

I’m gonna be a 6th grader REALLY soon so im starting junior high.I don’t want to have a dark or dull room.I like really bright colors like LIME GREEN,PURPLE,ORANGE,YELLOW,AND BLUE pink is ok.But I don’t have any good ideas on how to paint, decorate,or choose the color theme.Even if you don’t have any ideas with these colors in them please share them anyway. =)
Sorry for not putting this earlier i am a girl.

I’m going into ninth grade and just remodeled my room. I have this awesome, bright minty green. It’s sort of mint, sort of teal, and just gorgeous. From behr paints, I believe it is called "shoreline green." online it looks light, but on the wall it is bright. For the edging around windows, the ceiling, and bottom trim of the wall, its a crisp, clean white.

With that color, I went with a zebra stripe theme. Zebra comforter and pillows, black butterfly chair, zebra hair straightener, zebra curtains, zebra lamp, etc. It looks awesome!! Pretty, fun, and not too crazy.

Just remember when you paint not to go for something SO bright, cause I wanted lime green also but it came out almost snot-ish unless you gave it three or four coats. Plus, it gave me a headache just with the one foot of wall i painted it on to. Also, remember that in two or three years, your going to be more mature and might want a more comfortable, sophisticated room.

Pink you’ll get sick of, yellow (unless it is pale) will make your room look sickeningly bright and like a banana. its bad (my friend had her room like that for a year or so). Blue is nice, but sorta typical. Purple is too nice, but usually on the darker side. Orange is pretty awesome, but also a little immature.
    Good luck!!

  2. My tween wants a lava lamp room… Any ideas?

    December 18, 2010 by admin

My daughter turns 11 this Thanksgiving and wants her room redecorated with lava lamps. Her walls are two different shades of aqua blue (her room is now ocean) and the carpeting is teal. Help!

You can find some really fun stuff and blue lava lamps at retroplanet.com. The colors she has in her room are great retro colors.

  3. room design ideas for a tween girl?

    December 11, 2010 by admin

i wanna redo my room and im a tween girl and i was thinking of pink walls and dressers and curtains and bed and stuff but it that to much pink?
    i need some more ideas
    btw I want the pink!!

Well, tween is like 9-12 right?
Well, that means soon you will be a teen – and as a teen you will not want so much pink. It will remind you of princesses, and immaturity.
What I think you could do, is use pink, with other colors so it is not too girly and annoying. Something you will grow into.
Do not put all pink, that is the worst thing ever. Pick about 3 colors or 4, and make a color scheme – then use accessories to fit that scheme around your room, click these rooms for examples:

  4. What evening activities would be good for tween son during mid-Dec visit?

    December 4, 2010 by admin

I and my 12 year old son will be visiting NYC for just 3.5 days in mid December.
*He* wants to know how much chance there is it will snow.
*I* want to know what he and I can do in the evenings other than walk around looking at Christmas window decorations. Our daytime activity list has more on it than we can possibly do, but for the evening… nada. And I sure don’t want to spend my first trip to NYC in 20 years just sitting in my room watching TV at night. Ok. MAYBE I can afford tix to a show one night, but everything else I’ve found to do at night doesn’t appear to be age appropriate. Or requires the ability to withstand great cold!
Sadly, I’m also on a budget so I can’t just throw money at the problem and we have four nights to fill.
    Any good ideas?
    Thanks,
    Karen

Well, if I was going I’d want to take one of these. Pretty expensive though.

What are some cute room ideas? For a older tween and younger teen? I’ve checked out Pbteen and I dont know what kind of new bedding im getting, but it my choice. 7. Help On Re-Doing Friend’s (Tween) Room? She Wants Pink And Brown Polka Dots!!?

    October 27, 2010 by admin

Okay, so my friend’s little sister is redecorating her room, and she wants it to be a pink and brown polka dotted theme. She wants a new desk (b/c it is basically a piece of wood on legs, must have room for laptop…), dresser set, possibly a bookcase/bookshelf, bedding, possibly fan, and DEFINITLEY a new paint job.
Right now the room is completley purple. She doesnt know which the base color should be. (Light brown or a bright-ish pink) I have NO idea which would look better. Oops, forgot to mention that she wants one wall to be striped, then polka dotted, then striped, then polka dotted.
    The room looks like this….
The wall to the west has her door and closet. The wall to the south has her bed and two dressers. The west wall has her window. And the north wall has her desk, wheely-container-cart thingy and main dresser.
Please help!! She wants it done for her birthday, which is at the end of July!!!
    All answers will be appreaciated!!!
(Websites or pics would be SOOOO great!!)

  8. any teen/tween room ideas?

    October 17, 2010 by admin

okay we are buying a house and i finally get my own room after 12 years and i get to decorate it but im completely blank. im 12 going on 13 and i don’t want a room im guna love now and hate later.

here r a couplethingss about me
i love stars, peace signs, and hearts, awesome dancer, great writer, fantastic actress, semi-good artist, close to friends and family, very artistic, fav color purple ( at this moment it usally revolves around hot pink, lime green, orange, white, black and sometimes gray) very very musical, not very eco friendly ( idk why i heart our plantet but hate what we do to it i’ll find a way but thats a different story) hate flower themes( sometimes) on anything but love flowers, not an outdoors person, listens to pop, rock ( not metal or anything just mainly like a pop rock),hip-hop,rap, country, most fav celebs beyonce, avril lavigne, fergie, daughtry, ne-yo, kanye west, paromore, carrie underwood, britney spears( not much of hanah montana cuz thats gettin very rare now and aabsoloutly NAWT the jonas brothers, selena gomez,or anybody else unless ur talkin DEMI LAVATO ) and a bunch of other people unlesss they are from diney channel, fav tv shows tyler perry’s house of payne, tyler perry’s meet the browns, PARIS HILTON ( MY IDOL) my new bff, tyra bank show ( my other idol), america’s next top model, fav cities paris, tokyo, sacramento, rome, england, and beljing.

i sound like a pretty demanding person dont i ( truth is im not)
so the person with the most and best ( maily most) themes or ideas gets the points but if u give a really really good one i might just give u da points ( seriously open for almost anything) so ya thx u all rock

Purple with animal prints! Purple is a lasting color, so it’s good for your girly side, but it’s also sophisticated. It also goes with any color except orange. :P I suggest painting two walls a light purple and the other two darker purples, and throw in zebra prints. (Maybe a rug or a comforter?)

Then add posters and such. Hehe(:

  9. Where can i find an interior designer to re-decorate my room?

    October 8, 2010 by admin

small space- tween room. SMALL :)

Ask a local retail store in your town–whose store you think is decorated well–who their designer was. Ask friends and co-workers for recommendations. Carefully consider portfolios once you’ve secured some names… be sure to choose someone who gets your taste in decorating. Good luck.

  15. I have two tween girls who share a room and are too big for bunk beds… any suggestions?

    August 17, 2010 by admin

Their room is 10 x12. We need to organize their space and make it move livable and not as cluttered.

Double bunkbeds! Separate and put each bed about 4-5 ft off the floor with storage or a desk underneath. Add a reading light, and small shelves, for keep sakes etc. Let the girls personalize each area and maybe add curtains for privacy.
    .
Idea-buy a big sheet of 1/2in thick, 4ftx8ft Homasote, cut in half, and attach them to the wall. You can add 1inx2in framing to set it off and paint it to look nice. The Homasote makes a great peg board and saves putting holes in the walls.
    .
idea- install a wide shelf all around the room 12-16in from the ceiling to display stuffed animals etc.
    .
idea- divide the closet in half, either build it yourself or purchase ready made closet organizers at a home store.
    .
I can tell you some bad news though, eventually the girls are going to want to be separated. One of them is going to wind up in the basement or the space over the garage, so start planing now!
